We have a great love for music. We enjoy a children’s choir, an adult choir, bell chimes (led by our organist), pianists and a violinist. , Christmas caroling, with hot cocoa, cookies and trimming the tree has become a tradition the evening before the children’s Christmas Pageant.
Coffee, Tea & Thee is an initiative of the Renewal Team. Entering its third year, CT&T has evolved into an intimate group, gathering monthly to share stories and folk wisdom with spiritual overtones. The gatherings take the form of theme celebrations -a monthly party Which may commemorate a holiday, a season or someone’s bright idea. Past themes have been: Good Samaritan Stories, Baptists for St. Patrick, Great Romances and other things along that line. Activities have included Valentine making, Easter egg coloring, singing, poetry reading and Show and Tell. The idea of the parties is to provide a non-threatening social opportunity for Church family adults to feel connected.
In addition to our Sunday School program, we have really made a great hit with Vacation Bible School. Now in its thirteenth year, VBS continues to grow and thrive. Pictured are the children and volunteers from previous years. This year’s theme, All Aboard the VBS Express, will be held August 6th – 10th.
Our Christian Education Board works hard to provide our children with outings and activities outside of Sunday School, such as a Halloween Party, a Mardi Gras Party, Valentine Bingo, and roller skating. Our Youth Group enjoys karaoke, bowling, and a night out at the movies. We want Church to be a place where our children want to be.
Christmastime is special to us, from the candlelight service on Christmas Eve, to the children’s Christmas Pageant on the Sunday before Christmas. On Easter morning, the men prepare a breakfast for all at the Church, which is held after sunrise service at our local park. Children’s Sunday in June marks the end of the Sunday School year at which time the children and teachers are recognized. Years past have also included a Church picnic either at a nearby park or at the local public pool.
Other fundraisers have included bake sales and a silent auction. Stewardship swaps of books, toys and holiday decorations have been enjoyed by adults and children. In addition we have recently been holding prayer vigils initiated and organized by one of our members, who is also a lay pastor. Our lay pastor also fills in for Sunday service from time to time and is an invaluable asset to our congregation
